THE LONGEST UNDERGROUND ADVENTURE IN THE WORLD
FIVE KILOMETRES OF PURE ADRENALINE!

The Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ route runs long and deep under the mountains of North Wales. In fact it takes all day to get around it - a tough, full day of unquantifiable fun that makes everything else look totally pony. This isn't some hour long "whilst we're passing" whim - it's  high adventure in the Xtreme - supersized!

NINE UNDERGROUND ZIP LINES!

Yes, nine. Our Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ underground adventure route really has nine underground zip lines. And they are all run disgustingly high off the ground through vast caverns deep below the surface.

Our zip lines all represent a purposeful part of the route and each one is in a completely different chamber.

Goliath Zip Line Photo

THE WORLDS LONGEST UNDERGROUND ZIP LINE!

One of our nine zip lines is so long, it's actually the longest underground zip line in the world at 130m end to end. How cool is that? We call it Goliath - read more about it here!

Quote from the Mashable article

THE WORLDS DEEPEST UNDERGROUND ZIP LINE!

Another one of our zip lines, as it happens, is the deepest underground zip line in the world. The solid rock roof above is 1,230 feet thick.

TAKE IN GREAT BRITAIN'S DEEPEST POINT!

The tunnels, caverns and passageways that we'll take you along run very deep indeed under the mountains above, exceeding 1,300 feet down in some places. There is no publicly accessible place in Great Britain deeper than this. What a great way to compliment a climb of Snowdon!

The Zip Below Ride

THE WORLDS FIRST UNDERGROUND ZIP RIDE!

One of our zip lines is steep. Very Steep. and it runs down a really spectacularly huge cavern which is just fascinating to see. Because of this, we operate it as a Zip Ride. What's the difference? Well a Zip Ride has a seat for a start, so you sit upright and hold the chains. Rather than scream down it in the shortest time possible, you're lowered down gracefully where you can appreciate and take in the awesome surroundings by freely looking around. It's unrushed, you can take pictures or just enjoy the ride. We'll stop you a couple of times on the way down if you like, even if just to look between your hanging feet at the boulders on the chamber floor, a hundred foot down! If you don't like heights just try your best not to be sick. Read more about our Underground Zip Ride here!

Underground Freefall in Wales

THE WORLDS FIRST UNDERGROUND FREE FALL!

At one point on our trip you're stood at the top of a 70 foot abyss, with the route continuing on from the bottom. We'll clip you to our free fall machine and you can just jump! You'll plummet like a house brick through the dark cold air, before the free-fall machine applies the brakes to bring you to a controlled stop. Phew! (this activity can be bypassed for anybody that doesn't fancy it!)

Zip Below Extreme ladder climbing

MILES OF HIGH TRAVERSES AND VIA FERATTA

To get through the mine, long sections of our Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ route run high along seemingly endless cliff walls. Sometimes there is a bit of a ledge to stand on, sometimes the remains of an old plank. Sometimes nothing at all. Eeep! The traverses are tremendous fun and really quite challenging, you'll be grinning from ear to ear!

Crossing an old underground bridge

ANCIENT BRIDGES DECAYING IN THE DARKNESS

The mine used to have many wooden bridges spanning the sickening voids of the chambers, but over the decades, most of these have collapsed and fallen into the abyss. Some of them however are still holding on, at least partially, and yes, our route crosses several of them. There is little more "character building" than inching slowly along a 150 year old timber beam with an 80 foot yawning chasm below you.

100% REAL, UNCONTRIVED AND UNSPOILT

The mine workings we pass through are huge and fantastic to see just as the last miners and quarrymen left them. In fact, large tracts of the route haven't seen a soul since the 1800's (you can still see hobnail boot prints in places, and the odd bowler hat or tobacco pipe still sat on a rock as it was left!).

We don't install mains flood lighting into this magnificent historic environment. We don't lay smooth concrete floors. We don't put in gantries, fences or safety barriers. The mine is absolutely radiating character and personality just as it is, and we don't want to spoil that magic at all. Not one bit.

There is no electricity down there, no phones, no wi-fi. The lights we see with are the lights from our helmet cap-lamps. We think it's much better this way.

GENUINE ADVENTURE - NO CHEESY GIMMICKS

Our trips are team based adventures, led by the most experienced caving instructors in Great Britain. We deliberately give you plenty of self-responsibility, control and freedom. You'll be clipping yourself on and off the ropes and traversing the long via ferattas at your own pace as an integral member of the days self-reliant adventure team.

Our instructors are with you all the way. We train you how to use the ropes system properly and professionally. We work as a team - so you might be helping to haul someone struggling up a ladder for instance. Or you might be assisting with navigation.

It's all part of the adventure.

GO BELOW IN THE PRESS AND ON TV!

The Sunday Times

The Sunday Times reporter Duncan Craig called the Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ route "...the scariest assault course in the UK..." and also that "...pound for thrill, this might just be the best value day out in the UK". You can watch his short video and read his review here.

Wales Online and the North Wales Weekly News

Wales online wrote of our new trip "...A thrilling blast from the past..." in their detailed article that you can read in full here.

The Guardian

The Guardian singled us out in their article as one of 10 adventurous things to do in the UK - you can read their full article here.

The Guardian also sent reporter Rachel Dixon to review the route, you can read her feature here.

BBC Radio Wales

BBC Radio Wales reporter Brendon Williams steadied his nerves for a sample of the new Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ route. Of the Goliath Zip Ride he said "Utterly, utterly amazing" and of the freefall jump "Utterly, utterly exhilarating".

However, our favourite quote from Brendon's feature has to be:
"I've never been so scared in all my life, and I'm not joking".

PARTICIPANT SUITABILITY:
WEIGHT, HEIGHT AND FITNESS

The 7 hour Go Below® Ultimate Xtreme™ route is highly demanding and many people who've done it have later said it was one of the toughest days out they've ever had.

You don't need any prior experience, nor do you need to be super-human, but you're going to be on the go all day climbing and scrambling up and down obstacles and facing many intimidating challenges. There are copious vertical drops which will test your nerve even if you're not normally scared of heights. It's not suitable for children, even very capable ones.

There is no overall weight restriction on the trip but the Free Fall's maximum weight handling is 19 stone (so persons in excess of this will need to miss this part out). Regardless of weight however, participants do still need to be able to fit properly into a safety harness (you're welcome to come try one on at our kit room before you book if you're concerned about this).

You are the best to judge your personal fitness. If you can handle a long day of scrambling, walking, climbing, zip lining and swinging on ropes then this trip is for you, otherwise we recommend trying our easier half-day Go Below® Challenge trip first.

There are no height restrictions on any of our trips.
